Just 11%: Deposit growth plunges to decade low

The annual growth in bank deposits fell sharply to 11.05% as on December 28, the lowest since May 2003, leaving bankers and economists foxed on how this could have happened.
Most of them who had left from their offices for the day when the RBI data arrived, and refused to believe.
Deposits had grown at an annual rate of 13.35% a fortnight ago and 16.89% as on December 30, 2011.
